In, Nagaland , the Hornbill festival, one of the biggest indigenous festival of the country got off to a spectacular start at the Naga Heritage village, about 12 kilometers from capital town Kohima on Tuesday. The seven-day cultural extravaganza received an overwhelming response this year as thousands of people, including tourist from country’s mainland as well as from abroad thronged to the picturesque tourist village to experience the music, language, songs and dances and cuisines of one of the richest living tribal traditions in the country under one venue. Declaring the festival open, Nagaland governor, Nikhil Kumar said the prevalence of comparative peace in the state encouraged both the government and the people to organize various events across the state and called upon the citizens to sustain this positive development. All the eight north-eastern states as well as cultural troupe from Myanmar, Thailand, Japan and Korea are taking part in the event.<br/>Beautifully choreographed drumming and traditional folk songs and dances marked the inaugural day. Bamboo emporium, colourful traditional handloom and handicrafts stalls and the culinary delights and cuisines of different communities were also set up for the tourists to relish.<br/>
