Janata Dal (United) President Sharad Yadav today expressed hope that the differences with Samajwadi Party over seat sharing for upcoming Bihar Assembly elections will be sorted out soon. Replying to a media query in New Delhi on Samajwadi Party's decision to fight assembly elections alone, Mr Yadav said, he is in touch with Mulayam Singh Yadav to resolve the issue. He dismissed the suggestion that this episode will affect the alliance prospects in the polls.

Sharad Yadav also opposed the demand of reservation for Patel community in Gujarat saying it is not legitimate. He called Patel reservation crusader Hardik Patel as immature leader saying the decision on reservation should be on the basis on social, economical and educational backwardness.

He however, said Patel is a rich community in the state even though there are unemployment and poverty among them and their leaders should fight on those issues. When asked about Bihar Chief Minister supporting Hardik Patel's agitation, JD(U) Chief said Nitish Kumar had already clarified on the issue. Mr. Yadav also questioned the Prime Minister over his promise to provide employment to youth during poll campaign and alleged that Mr. Narendra Modi has failed to fulfill his promises.
