Hooda cabinet in Haryana expanded

The 13-day-old Bhupinder Singh Hooda government in Haryana was today expanded with induction of six Cabinet rank ministers and two Ministers of State. The Cabinet rank ministers sworn in by Governor Jagannath Pahadia include five from Congress, Ajay Yadav, Randeep Surjewala, Mahendra Partap Singh, Paramvir Singh and Geeta<br/><br/>Bukal. The other Cabinet minister is Om Parkash Jain, an independent MLA. Both the Ministers of State Shiv Charan Sharma and Gopal Kanda are also independents MLAs. Another independent MLA, Sukhbir Kataria, who was also<br/><br/>to be sworn in as Minister of State could not make it to Raj Bhawan for taking oath. He will be sworn in later. This was the first expansion of the Congress-led ministry which came to power for the second consecutive term with the<br/><br/>support of seven Independent MLAs and one from BSP as the party fell six short of majority in the 90-member Assembly. <br/><br/>Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has allocated portfolios to the newly constituted Council of Ministers in the evening. Capt. Ajay Singh Yadav will hold the portfolios of Finance, Planning, Institutional Finance and Credit Control, Irrigation, Forests and Environment. And Mr. Randeep Singh Surjewala will hold the portfolios of Water Supply and Sanitation, Parliamentary Affairs, Electronics and Information Technology, Science and Technology and Public Works (Building and Roads) Department. Mr. Mahender Partap Singh has been given the portfolios of Power, Renewable Energy, Labour and Employment, Food and Supplies, Urban Local Bodies and Industries and Commerce. Mr. Om Parkash Jain will hold the portfolios of Transport, Tourism, Civil Aviation and Hospitality and Mr. Paramvir Singh will hold the portfolios of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Fisheries and Cooperation. Ms. Geeta Bhukkal has been given the portfolios of Education and Languages, Social Justice and Empowerment, Women and Child Development, Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes, Health, Printing and Stationery.Among the Minister of State, Mr. Shiv Charan Sharma will hold the portfolios of Revenue and Disaster Management(attached with Chief Minister), Consolidation and Rehabilitation.<br/><br/>Mr. Gopal Kanda has been given the portfolios of Home(attached with Chief Minister), Sports and Youth Affairs(attached with Chief Minister), Industries and Commerce(attached with Industries Minister). Mr. Sukhbir Kataria will hold the portfolios of Agriculture and Cooperation for which he will be attached with Agriculture and Cooperation Ministers.
