In Uttar Pradesh, the state government has announced financial assistance of one lakh rupees to the next kin of those killed in the recent hooch tragedies in four districts of Bulandshahr, Ghaziabad, Varanasi and Saharanpur. The State Chief Minister has also directed senior officials to fix responsibility against officers for the tragedies and take severe action. She has also directed for providing free medical facilities to those hospitalized after consuming spurious liquor.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, the death toll in the hooch tragedy has reached 44 in Ghaziabad and Bulandshahr districts with five more casualties at Ghaziabad and three in Bulandshahr since last Tuesday. In Ghaziabad a total of 26 persons have lost their lives till now while 18 are reported dead in Bulandshahar. About 30 more persons from both the districts still remain hospitalized. Our correspondent reports that 13 persons have been arrested in Ghaziabad for their alleged involvement in illegal business of spurious liquor while 4 persons have been booked in Bulandshahr.
