At the Hong Kong Super Series Badminton, 2016 runner-up PV Sindhu remains the last Indian standing tall after National Champions HS Prannoy and Saina Nehwal failed to cross the pre-quarterfinal hurdles today. Olympic silver medallist Sindhu entered the quarterfinals of Women's Singles defeating Aya Ohori of Japan in the second round 21-14, 21-17. Sindhu will next face the China Open champion Akane Yamaguchi. Prannoy bowed out to Karumaza Sakai of Japan 21-11, 10-21, 15-21 in the Men's Singles pre-quarterfinal round. Saina also lost her bout against Chen Yufei of China 21-18, 19-21, 10-21 in the pre-quarter-finals.
