Homes for all poor families by 2022: Piyush Goyal

Union Power and Coal Minister Piyush Goyal today said that the NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi had chalked out an elaborate plan to provide homes to all poor families in the country by 2022. <br/><br/>Addressing the media in Bengaluru today, on his two-day visit to Karnataka to explain to the people the achievements of Modi government in the past three years, Mr Goyal said the Union Government's 'Jan Dhan' scheme had been a big success as it had helped the Centre disburse Rs two lakh crore of subsidies directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.<br/><br/>Nation's resources should first reach the poorer strata of the society as this would solve major problems of poverty and other social evils. The union government had given a special focus to this, he said. <br/><br/>He said GST that will be introduced on July one was a big step towards financial reforms and the entire country would benefit from it besides increasing the tax net to strengthen the economy. <br/><br/>Mr Goyal rejected opposition claim that the government had failed to tackle terrorism, but said the Modi government had taken decisive decisions to check terrorism and had largely been successful in curbing the menace. <br/><br/>He said the nation had faced quite many problems during the three years but the government had ensured solution to most of them. Mr Modi had taken up the task of building 'New India' and the entire world had appreciated his efforts. The Prime Minister had taken important decisions that had not been addressed for decades by the previous governments.
