Home Secy. seeks sound criminal justice system

Union Home Secretary R K Singh has called for a sound criminal justice system in the country to maintain peace and harmony. He said a stable transparent system of justice is necessary to attract investment as foreign entrepreneurs are keen to invest in India. He was speaking at a function in New Delhi today to mark the celebrations of Institute Day of the Lok Nayak Jaiprakash Narain Institute of Criminology and Forensic Science, under the Home Ministry.

Singh said the need for criminal justice system has been felt strongly in the post liberalisation period as India is going to emerge as a global power in the future. Criminal justice system is collaboration between police, prosecution, judiciary and prison. Unless all the four move in harmony the country cannot have a sound criminal justice system, he said. Suggesting separating prosecution from investigation, the Home Secretary said the state governments should strengthen investigation mechanism.
