Union Home Secretary R K Singh today held discussions with Chhattisgarh chief minister Dr. Raman Singh in Raipur on the situation arising out of Saturday’s Maoist attack in Bastar and counter-Maoist strategies to be adopted in the state. AIR correspondent Vikalp Shukla reports that a high level team of union home ministry, headed by Mr. Singh, earlier held discussions with senior civil and police officials in Raipur. The discussions centred on the on-going Anti Naxal operations, particularly in Bastar, and the tactics need to be revised in the wake of the Saturday's lethal attack. Mr. Singh later said more forces will be sent for anti-naxal operations in Chhatisgarh. He said anti-naxal operations will continue with full force despite the lethal attack in Bastar region in which some senior Congress leaders were killed.
The Chief Minister has called an all party meeting on Thursday to discuss the situation in the wake of the t Maoist incident and the steps needed to be taken to contain it.
Meanwhile, the National Investigation Agency team-probing the Saturday’s naxal attack, visited the ambush spot near Darbha as part of the investigations and later returned to the state capital, Raipur.
