New Delhi today expressed sympathies and regret on the recent death of a minor girl in a firing incident near the Indo-Bangladesh border at Fulbari in Kurigram. In a press release, issued at the end of the two-day joint working group on security meeting, India also requested Bangladesh side to sensitize the people to follow the legal routes for crossing the border and also restrict movement in these areas at night hours. According to the press release, issues related to smuggling of arms, narcotic drugs, activities of extremists and terrorists, insurgency, trafficking of women and children, repatriation of prisoners, border fencing and immigration issues were discussed during the meeting. Both sides expressed satisfaction at the current level of co-operation on security related issues between India and Bangladesh. The report of the Joint Working Group on security will now be taken up at the 11th Home Secretary level meeting which is scheduled to begin in Dhaka later this afternoon. The Home Secretary, Mr. G.K. Pillai will lead the Indian delegation while his counterpart, Mr. Abdus Sobhan Sikder will be leading the Bangladesh delegation.
