Home Secretary asserts situation in B'lore fully under control

Union Home Secretary R K Singh today asserted that the situation in Bangalore is fully under control. Talking to reporters in New Delhi, Mr Singh said strict action will be taken against those spreading rumours about attacks on people from the Northeast. He warned those spreading rumours would not be spared.

In Karnataka, the Police is organising meetings between minority community and people from North East to build a cordial atmosphere in the State. The Deputy Commissioner of Police Intelligence who is a nodal officer to look into North East people affairs, Mr.Vincent D’Souza informed that patrolling has been intensified in the places where people from the north east are living.

Chief Minister Jagadish Shetter has left for New Delhi to hold talks with the centre on this issue. He reiterated Government support and complete protection. The Government interaction with members of Assam Society of Bangalore continues today, to find ways of stopping the migration of people of north east
