Home Secretary arrives in Kohima

Union Home Secretary GK Pillai accompanied by Mr. R.S. Pandey, the new interlocutor to the ongoing Naga peace talks has arrived in Kohima early this morning from Imphal who was on a visit to assess on the present situation between the Manipur government and NSCN(IM) General Secretary’s proposed visit to his home town Somdal in Manipur. Sources from the Kohima Raj Bhavan told that Mr. Pillai and Pandey is holding series of meetings with Naga Civil Societies at various locations and later scheduled to visit Viswema<br/>village where the Naga rebel leader has been camping since last week. <br/>Meanwhile, at the public funeral that was held today at Kalinamai village near Mao gate of the two slained students who were killed by Manipur forces on sixth May incident, the Naga Students’ Federation and the NSCN( IM) had declared the two as Naga Martrys. Thousands of mourners from all walks of life gathered to express their grieve at the lost of two innocent young Naga volunteers. Many organizations, civil societies delivered condolence message to the departed souls. AIR Imphal correspondent reports that the overall situation in Manipur as well as the interstate border remains to be peaceful now.
