Home Secretaries of Assam, Mizoram hold high level meeting to resolve border issue

<span style="color: #222222;">The Home Secretaries of Assam and Mizoram held a high level meeting in the presence of Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs (incharge of North East) Satyendra Kumar Garg at Lailapur today to resolve the border issue.<br />'' <br />'' Mr. Garg said the Union Government, Assam and Mizoram Governments had fruitful discussion and resolved to settle the matter amicably across the negotiation table.<br />'' <br />'' Following the meeting, Home Secretary, Mizoram, Pi Lalbiaksangi said Mizoram would withdraw its forces following the meeting with Joint Secretary, MHA.<br />'' <br />'' The meeting was held in a very cordial atmosphere with both sides agreeing to restore peace and tranquility along the border areas and to instil a sense of security among the people.<br />'' <br />'' As part of confidence building measures, both the sides would have interaction and coordination once in a month at the Deputy Commissioner, SP and DFO level to hammer out any issues.<br />'' <br />'' Mizoram Home Secretary Pi Lalbiaksangi said the Mizoram Government will ensure security to the truckers coming from Assam side and requested the Assam Government to start the movement of stranded vehicles.<br />'' <br />''<br />''It was also decided in the meeting that both the states would provide security to the people living on both sides of the border.</span>
