The Union Home Ministry has sought clarifications from the Gujarat government on the controversial Gujarat Control of Terrorism and Organised Crime (GCTOC) Bill, 2015. The bill was passed by the State Assembly in March this year and sent for presidential assent. Sources said, as some of the provisions of the bill are in contravention of central laws, Home Ministry has asked some clarifications. <br/><br/>State Chief Secretary GR Aloria said that Union Home Ministry asked some clarification on provisions related to IT Act in the bill and state Government will send their comments. GCTOC Bill, passed by a majority vote the state Assembly, allows the police to record and use telephonic intercepts as evidence. Incidentally, the GCTOC Bill happens to be the amended version of the previous Gujarat Control of Organised Crime (GUJCOC) Bill, which failed to get presidential assent thrice.
