The Home Ministry has forwarded its recommendation on the mercy petition of the lone surviror of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack Ajmal Kasab to the President. A Home Ministry official said that the ministry has processed the case and submitted it to the President for his decision.

On 29th of August this year, the Supreme Court had upheld Kasabs' conviction and death sentence by the Bombay High Court. The LeT operative had filed mercy petition before the President on 18th of September this year after he lost the battle in the apex court. Kasab was arrested after he was nabbed during a gun battle with security forces in November 2008.
