Home ministry finalises plan for setting up ICP at Wagah-Attari border

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has finalised the plan for setting up Integrated Check Post at Wagah-Attari land border (Indo- Pak border) involving a sum of Rs 150 crore.<br/><br/>This check post will be set up under the aegis of Land Port Authority of India which has been tasked to set up 13 Integrated Check Posts (ICP) on the international border of India with various countries.<br/><br/>Amritsar Deputy Commissioner Kahan Singh Pannu said that Wagah-Attari will be the first Land Port to be commissioned. He gave this information after a meeting with Mr Sada Kant, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs (Border Management).<br/><br/>The officials of District Administration, BSF, Customs and Immigration participated in the meeting held at BSF Conference Hall at Wagah-Attari Border.Deputy Commissioner informed that the Integrated Check Post(ICP) will come up on 131 acre of land which had already been acquired by the state government and handed over to the central government for construction of post. The Check Post will have various machines and equipment including high level scanners worth Rs 30 crore to facilitate the Customs and Immigration clearance of passengers and goods.
