Amidst escalated tensions along the International Border in Jammu Sector, Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde will visit Samba and Hiranagar sectors today to review the security scenario. Mr Shinde will land at Samba and after visiting forward areas, he will visit the BSF Battalion Headquarters, where he will be briefed on the situation prevailing on the International Border in the wake of firing and shelling by Pakistan. Later, he will visit Hiranagar police station, where three fidayeens had on September 26th killed four police personnel and two civilians. He will also chair the Unified Headquarters meeting at the Chief Minister’s residence.
Our correspondent reports that the top brass of the Army, BSF, CRPF, Intelligence Bureau, police, civil administration and other para-military and Intelligence agencies operating in the State will attend the meeting. He adds that the Union Home Minister, at the meeting will review the situation prevailing along the International border right from Kathua to Akhnoor sector in Jammu region, which has been witnessing heavy shelling and firing from Pakistan side and steps taken by the security agencies to counter the firing and infiltration attempts by the militants. Under the cover of firing, Pakistani Rangers have been trying to push infiltrators into this side for creating large scale disturbances.
