Home Minister says Pakistan's state actor has a role in attempts to destablise India

The Centre has said that terrorist groups like Al- Qaida will not succeed in implementing their plans of creating Islamic states or recruiting youths in India. Addressing the DGPs conference in Guwahati today, Union Home minister Rajnath Singh said that Indian societies are united to thwart any such attempt of the terrorist group. He said that Indian Muslims scarified their lives in the freedom movements and anti-national forces will not be able to lure them.

The Home Minister said, the government is concerned about some misguided youth getting attracted to Islamic State terror group. Expressing concern over growing use of cyberspace by anti-national and anti-social forces, Mr Singh said steps need to be taken to monitor cyberspace. He said coastal security network in the country is inadequate and it needs be strengthened.

Home Minister blamed Pakistan for attempts to destablise India saying state actors within that country have a role in it. He rejected Islamabad's claim that non-state actors are behind acts of terror in India. Referring to the latest terror attack on security forces in Arnia sector of Jammu, he wanted to know whether Pakistan considers its intelligence agency ISI as a non-state actor. Mr. Singh said, terrorist groups are not able to recruit youths of Jammu and Kashmir in large numbers as they used to do earlier. The Home Miniter also congratulated the West Bengal police for unearthing the recent terror module in the state. The Home minister also appealed left wing extremists for talks but made it clear that government will not allow them to continue violence.

Highlighting lack of development and quality infrastructure in the North East, Mr. Singh said the government is committed to boost infrastructure in the region. He voiced concern over ethnic and socio-economic conflicts in the North Eastern region. Mr. Singh also said that the Centre is planning to install CCTV cameras on National Highway by 2019. He also said that 50 crore rupees have been sanctioned to set up National police memorial in New Delhi.

Union Home minister for state Kiren Rijiu and other senior officials of security agencies also participated in the conference. The Home minister also presented police medals to meritorious officers of the Intelligence Bureau. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the conference tomorrow.
