Home Minister says, Centre closely monitoring situation in Saharanpur; Curfew relaxation passes off peacefully

Home Minister Rajnath Singh today said, the situation in Saharanpur is fully under control and the Centre is keeping a close vigil on it. Mr. Singh also held a meeting with Intelligence Bureau and other senior officials of the Ministry and discussed the situation in violence hit Saharanpur.

The centre has already offered all possible help to the state government to contain the situation. It has sent 600 paramilitary personnel to assist the state government in maintaining the law and order.

Meanwhile, the situation in violence hit Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh, remains tense but under control.

The district administration today relaxed curfew for four hours in all six police station circles. The situation seems returning to normalcy as no untoward incident from anywhere was reported today.

Central Para Military Forces besides police and PAC, are constantly patrolling and officials are keeping vigil on the situation. AIR Correspondent reports that the curfew was lifted in two phases.

The violent clashes between the two groups broke out on Saturday when a group of people objected to the construction of a place of religious faith of other group under Kutubsher police station area.
