Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today said that the Maoist problem is a national challenge and the government is determined to continue the fight against the rebels. Addressing a press conference in Raipur after paying homage to the CRPF personnel killed in Maoist attack in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, he said the nation will have to unitedly fight this challenge. Home Minister said that a proxy war is more dangerous than a war and we are confident that we will win.
Rajnath Singh said that the families of all those security personnel who sacrificed their life in yesterday’s Maoist attack would be given 38 lakh rupees each. He said injured jawans would be given free medical treatment and 65 thousand rupees each.
Earlier, Union Home Minister convened a high level meeting in Raipur to take stock of the situation after yesterday’s Maoist attack. The meeting was attended by Governor and Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh. Senior officers of Home Ministry, State Police department and Central Para Military Forces were also present on this occasion. Maoists ambushed a joint team of security forces on Monday in the Chintagufa area of Sukma district in Chhattisgarh killing 14 CRPF personnel including two officers. As many as fifteen others were injured in the attack. Maoists also reportedly looted weapons of security personnel including AK-47 and Self Loading Rifles. Ten injured jawans were airlifted to Raipur for advance treatment.
