Home Minister rejects need for POTA like law to deal with terrorism

Home Minister P Chidambaram has rejected the need for bringing POTA like stringent laws to deal with terror. He said, at present the existing laws are adequate but if there is a need, the government will revisit them at an appropriate time. He said this while replying to a debate on the working of the Home Ministry in the Rajya Sabha yesterday. Referring to sentencing of Ajmal Amir Kasab in the Mumbai terror attack, Mr. Chidambram said he was not convicted on the basis of his confession but evidence. The Home Minister informed the House that the ATS of Maharasthra has cracked Pune Blast case and hoped that perpetrators of attack will be apprehended soon.
