Home Minister on two-day visit to Srinagar to review situation in valley

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today began his two-day visit to take stock of the situation in the trouble-torn Kashmir with the current unrest completing 47 days. He will review the overall situation in the Kashmir region in the aftermath of the protests and violence after the killing of militant commander Burhan Wani .<br/><br/>This is the second visit of Home Minister in a month to the valley. Rajnath Singh's latest Kashmir visit is significant in the backdrop of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for dialogue within the ambit of Indian constitution.<br/><br/>The delegations of ruling PDP, main opposition National Conference, Congress met Home Minister. They apprised Home Minister about the prevailing situation in Kashmir Valley. The Home Minister was requested to initiate a comprehensive, meaningful and sustained political dialogue with all stakeholders in the State . <br/><br/>The delegations also sought immediate ban on pellet and other types of lethal weapons being used to control protests. The delegations urged the Home Minister to order a time bound probe into the killings and alleged excesses committed on people. <br/><br/>BJP delegation also put forth its own viewpoint about the situation and suggestions to tackle the unrest in Kashmir. Home Minister also chaired separate high level security and administrative meetings with top security and administrative officials.
