Home Minister Rajnath Singh is reviewing the security situation in Left wing extremism affected States at a meeting in New Delhi today. The meeting is being attended by Chief Secretaries and DGPs of Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. It is the first meeting after the new government led by Narendra Modi came into power at the Centre.
According to Home Ministry sources, a critical appraisal of operational performance of security forces, gaps in coordination between the state police and central paramilitary forces are being discussed in the meeting.
Performance of state governments in centrally-sponsored projects and availability of infrastructure in camps of central paramilitary forces will be reviewed during the day-long deliberations. Presentations will be given on developments projects like integrated action plan, road projects and installation of over 2,199 mobile phone towers in Naxal-hit areas.
