Union Home Minister P Chidambaram this morning visited Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang district bordering China. During his short visit, Chidambaram inaugurated the newly-constructed office of the Tawang Deputy Commissioner and a ropeway connecting the famous Tawang monastery with Gyanggong Ani Gompa, another historic Bhuddhist temple. Later the Home Minister addressed a public rally. Earlier, a warm reception was given by a host of dignitaries including state Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu and state Home Minister Tako Dabi and hundreds of monks. The district was decorated to the hilt for Chidambaram’s visit on the eve of New Year. Later, Mr. Chidambaram left Tawang for Guwahati.
