The need to speed up the implementation of flagship programmes of the government in the Naxal affected districts was emphasized at a meeting convened by the Home Minister Mr. P Chidambaram in New Delhi today. Members of Parliament from about 34 districts in the eight worst affected states attended the meeting. Later speaking to newsmen, the Home Secretary Mr. G K Pillai said that the Planning Commission made a presentation at the meeting on the development in these areas. Another meeting will be held in the second week of next month as today's meeting remained inconclusive. The Members of Parliament who spoke at the meeting said that the basic infrastructure has to be provided to the people in these areas to win the confidence of the people. Some of the MPs in the border districts said that a vigil should be kept on the Maoists from Nepal and Bangladesh who some time enter these areas and provide the Naxals with weapons and other forms of assistance. <br/>
