The Home Minister Rajnath Singh today called for strengthening of strategies to deal with emerging cyber crimes. Addressing the 100th General Assembly Session of Interpol in Monaco, Mr Rajnath Singh said, the dynamics of globalization and financial transactions across borders, have enabled international crime groups to expand their global reach.
Mr Singh asserted that Interpol needs to be more powerful, effective and result oriented as Internet and Social Media are being increasingly used to instigate communal riots to destabilize the state, in recent years. He said, governments across the world have to collectively address the issue of safe havens for organized criminal and terrorist groups and their tainted money.
Mr. Rajnath Singh said, states must refrain from organizing, instigating, facilitating, participating in, financing, encouraging or tolerating terrorist activities.
The Home Minister said, outdated laws have to be weeded out with effective legislations that can address corruption, recovery and confiscation of ill-gotten wealth. Mr Singh said, police and judicial systems have to evolve continuously to meet new challenges. The approach to combating organized crime and terrorism should focus on building police capabilities, Mr Singh said.
