Home Minister asks Pakistan to stop ceasefire violations along LoC and International Border

Home Minister Rajnath Singh has asked Pakistan to stop ceasefire violations along the Line of Control and International Border. Speaking at the 53rd raising day function of Indo Tibetan Border Police in Greater Noida in the vicinity of Delhi today, Mr Singh said Indian security forces never started firing, they only retaliated to unprovoked firing by Pakistani troops. The Home Minister said, India wants peace and is willing to resolve the border disputes with China through talks.

Appreciating the role of ITBP in guarding the Sino-Indian border Mr Singh said it has made immense contribution in maintaining internal security and protecting unity and integrity of the country. He also recalled the services of ITBP in protecting lives and properties during the terror attack at Indian Embassy in Kabul.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also saluted the ITBP personnel on the raising day. In a message, Mr Modi said that country is proud of their valour, determination and service to the nation.

The force was raised on 24th October in 1962. It is deployed on border guarding duties from Karakoram Pass in Ladakh to Jachep La in Arunachal Pradesh covering 3488 kilometer of India-China Border manning Border Outposts on altitudes raging from 9000 feets to 18700 feets in the Western, Middle and Eastern Sector of the Border.
