Home Minister Amit Shah to hold review meeting on preparedness for cyclone Biparjoy today

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will chair a meeting in New Delhi this evening to review preparedness for impending cyclone Biparjoy in Arabian Sea. Chief Minister of Gujarat and MPs from eight likely affected districts will also virtually participate in the meeting.<br />''<br />''Prime Minister Narendra Modi had yesterday chaired a high-level meeting to review the preparedness of Ministries and Agencies of Centre as well as Gujarat to deal with the situation arising out of the impending Cyclone Biparjoy.<br />''<br />''Director General of India Meteorological Department Dr. Mrutyunjay Mohapatra has said that cyclonic storm Biparjoy is likely to hit Saurashtra -Kutch coast and adjoining Pakistan on Thursday evening, with a wind speed of 125 to 135 Kilometer per hour.<br />''<br />''Addressing a press conference in New Delhi today, Mr Mohapatra said that the gusting speed is likely to reach 145 to 150 kmph after its landfall and bring heavy to heavy rainfall in the coastal areas of Gujarat. <br />''<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">He said that Dwarka, Rajkot, Jamnagar and Kutch districts will experience strong wind speeds up to 125 during the landfall. Mr Mohapatra said that due to strong winds, there is possibility of large-scale damage in the area.<br />''<br />''The IMD DG said it is likely to cause heavy rainfall in the coastal districts of Gujarat, including extremely heavy falls in Kutch, Devbhumi Dwarka & Jamnagar and heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places over Porbandar, Rajkot, Morbi & Junagadh districts.<br />''<br />''On the day of landfall, Mr Mohapatra said the entire Saurashtra and kutch will experience "heavy rainfall" and "extremely heavy" rainfall up to 25 cm in Dwarka, Jamnagar and Kutch district.</span><br />
