<span style="color: #222222;">Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that the budgetary provision for disaster management has been increased by 122 per cent in the last eight years by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which shows the priority toward disaster management. He was addressing the Parliamentary Consultative Committee meeting on Disaster Management at the Statue of Unity near Kevadia in Gujarat today. He said that the present government under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Modi has adopted a holistic approach to disaster management, making it relief-centric, early warning-centered, proactive and based on early preparedness.<br />''<br />''Mr. Shah said that his Ministry, in collaboration with National Disaster Management Authority and National Disaster Response Force, is playing a vital role in assisting the States and Union Territories by providing logistics and financial assistance and coordinating response and relief measures during the natural calamities. He said that the spirit of public participation is very important in the 'Aapdamitra' Scheme. One lakh community volunteers are being trained for disaster response and preparedness in 350 disaster-prone districts under 'Aapdamitra' scheme for community capacity building. He asked the committee members to give suggestions for detailed reforms in Disaster Management Act, 2005.<br />''<br />''The Union Home Minister said that India is at the forefront of the world in the field of disaster management and will further strengthen its position by the completion of hundred years of independence in 2047. Mr. Shah said that the concept of disaster management in India has been in existence since ancient times. He said that the 'Common Alerting Protocol' Project is being implemented across the country to strengthen the last mile dissemination of early warnings. NDRF is being strengthened, modernized and expanded throughout the country. <br />''<br />''It has also been mandated to train the State Disaster Response Forces and the local community in disaster response. Mr. Shah said that NDRF is the best force among all the disaster response forces in the world. He said that the government is implementing the National Cyclone Risk Mitigation Project (NCRMP) in eight coastal states with a total outlay of 4,903 crore rupees to reduce the suffering caused by cyclones and other calamities.</span><br />
