Hockey World League:Indian defeat Oman 9-1 in Men's second round-robin match in New Delhi

The Indian Men's team defeated minnows Oman 9-1 in their second round-robin match of the Hockey World League Round 2 at the Major Dhyanchand Stadium in New Delhi last night. For the hosts, VR Raghunath, Rupinder Pal Singh, Nithin Thimmaiah, each found the net twice, while Dharamvir Singh, Mandeep Singh and Gurjinder Singh scored one goal apiece. India had won their opening fixture by brushing aside Fiji, 16-0.Both the Indian Men's and Women's team will play their third round-robin match today. The Indian Women's team, which had also won their opening two round-robin matches, will take on Fiji at 6 PM, while in the Men's section, India will clash with Ireland at 8 PM.This tournament is a qualifying event for the next year's World Cup, which will take place at the Hague in the Netherlands in June.
