Hockey World League: Indian Women's team suffers 3rd defeat

In the Hockey World League Semi-Finals, the Indian Women's team suffered its third defeat in four games as it lost to Australia, 2-4 in its final group match at Antwerp, Belgium last night. Penalty corner shooter Jodie Kenny scored all the four goals for Australia as they eclipsed India's best performance of the tournament. Vandana Katariya and Poonam Rani sounded the board for India. In the quarter-finals on Tuesday, India will meet world champions Netherlands, the toppers of Group-A.Meanwhile, the Men's team will play Australia today in their final Pool match. The match will begin at 7:30 PM Indian Time. The Indian Men's team is already assured a place in the knock-out stage.AIR correspondent reports that top three from both Men's and Women's section will qualify for next year's Rio Olympics. While the Indian Men's team has already qualified by virtue of a Gold at Incheon Asian Games, the Indian eves are yet to progress.
