Hockey World League: Indian women beat Italy 5-4

In the Hockey World League Semi-Finals at Antwerp, Belgium, the Indian women's team defeated Italy 5-4 via penalty shoot out in the 5th to 8th position classification match. After the two teams ended the regulation period One-One, penalty shoot out was resorted to. The teams finished 4-4 after five shoot outs. Thereafter, in the Sudden Death Penalty shoot out, Ritu Rani scored and put India ahead. Indian Goalkeeper G K Savita then saved the next attempt by Italy, giving India a well deserved victory.India will now play Japan or Belgium. The winner of that match will qualify for the Rio Olympics.
