Hockey India is to hold its much-awaited elections to its executive body on next Thursday. The elections postponed four times in the past for various reasons are being held now after the Supreme Court vacated the stay orders of Bombay and Delhi High Courts yesterday. The Delhi High Court had stayed the election process following the failure of the Central government to clarify its legal position regarding Hockey India and the erstwhile KPS Gill-led Indian Hockey Federation. The apex court allowed the beleaguered Hockey India to hold elections for its executive body but restrained it from implementation of the results. The International Hockey Federation has agreed to send its observer Antonio von Ondarza for the elections.
