Home Minister Rajnath Singh has stressed on the need for regional cooperation to deal with natural disasters. <br/><br/>Addressing BIMSTEC 1st Disaster Management Exercise in New Delhi today, Mr Singh said, advanced and improved disaster preparedness must be there to avoid a large number of losses due to natural calamities. <br/><br/>The Home Minister said, said reducing loss of lives should be on the main agenda during any kind of natural disaster. <br/><br/>He said India is making improvement in its natural disaster warning systems. Mr Singh said Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Bhutan are doing exemplary job in the area of disaster management. <br/><br/>Mr Singh said, disaster management exercise should be conducted on a regular basis to exchange views and share expertise on the subject. <br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion, Secretary (East) in the External Affairs Ministry Preeti Saran said, BIMSTEC brings together like-minded countries to deal with natural disasters.<br/><br/>She said, development of the BIMSTEC countries is necessary for the development of humanity. <br/><br/>Saying that natural disasters can derail the growth, she said, BIMSTEC nations should create synergy to handle disasters.
