HM reviews security situation in LWE-hit districts of Maharashtra

Home Minister Rajnath Singh reviewed the security situation in Left Wing Extremism (LWE) affected Gadchiroli and Gondia districts of Maharashtra at a meeting in New Delhi on Thursday with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. An official release said, the meeting was convened to strengthen security arrangements so that mining operation and social infrastructure could be taken up in the areas.<br/><br/>During the meeting, both Mr Gadkari and Mr Fadnavis said that LWE violence has reduced considerably in this districts and mining operations can take place. Mr Fadnavis also requested the Home Minister for additional deployment of 4 Battalions of CRPF and 2 Battalions of CISF to strengthen security in the areas for the purpose. Mr Rajnath Singh assured that his Ministry will discuss the issue with Director Generals of CRPF and CISF and an appropriate decision will be taken.<br/><br/>During the meeting, Mr Gadkari also proposed to train 10 to15 thousand local youths through skill development institutes that the State Government intends to set up in association with private companies. Union Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers, Hansraj Gangaram Ahir, Home Secretary LC Goyal also attended the meet.
