Home Minister P Chidambaram today made a fresh offer to hold talks with Naxals if they suspend violence even for just 72 hours.<br/><br/>The offer comes a day after Maoists unleashed another attack in Chhattisgarh. <br/><br/>Talking to a private TV Channel, he said, Government will fix a date, time and place for talks, when the Maoists come for the talks on anything they wish to talk. <br/><br/>Mr. Chidambaram said, CPI-Maoists never responded seriously to the offer of talks and they are indulging in gimmickry. <br/><br/>Asked whether government forces will also halt all operations against them during the period of ceasefire, the Home Minister responded in positive. He said complete suspension means there should not be any attack on infrastructure, any landmine blast or any targeting of telephone towers. <br/><br/>Maoists blew up a bus killing at least 31 people near Dantewada yesterday.<br/><br/>The Home Minister has urged the BJP and other political parties to continue to maintain a bipartisan spirit and approach in dealing with the challenge of naxalism. <br/><br/>Mr. P. Chidambaram said that the debate in parliament and outside so far has been bipartisan and there is broad agreement on how to deal with this challenge . <br/><br/>He however said in robust democracy there will be some differences in the manner in which each one articulates his or her views. Mr. Chidambaram said that , centre's mandate is to help the state government on taking the challenge of naxalites by providing para military forces , intelligence and technical assistance . <br/><br/>Mr. Chidambaram said the states have the primary responsibility to tackle the naxal problem. He said that Chief Minister have unlimited mandate as they can undertake what ever steps they wish to take in this regard. <br/><br/>Mr. Chidambaram said that his remarks about his mandate being limited was in this context. <br/><br/>Reaction to BJP leader Mr. Arun Jaitley comments that he is like an injured martyr, the Home Minister said that it was an unfortunate choice of words . He said the injured and the martyrs are the Jawans and Special police officers who were injured and killed in Chhattisgarh.
