HM for CBI probe into Gopinath Munde's death

The Home Ministry has recommended a CBI probe into the death of former Union Minister Gopinath Munde.This follows allegations of foul play in the road accident that led to Munde's death.

Official sources said, the Ministry has forwarded its recommendation to the Department of Personnel and Training for initiating a probe in the case by the investigating agency.

BJP leaders from Maharashtra, including Surface Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari had sought a CBI inquiry into the death.

Mr Gadkari along with the Maharashtra unit president of the BJP met Home Minister Rajnath Singh yesterday to discuss the scope of a CBI probe in the incident.

Munde was on his way to Indira Gandhi Airport on the 3rd of this month, when his car was hit by another vehicle and he died due to shock and haemorrhage following serious injuries.

The Delhi Police had registered a case against the car driver who hit Munde’s vehicle.
