Home Minister Rajnath Singh has said, a number of steps have been taken in recent years by the Central Government to promote cooperative federalism. <br/><br/>Addressing the 12th meeting of the standing committee of the inter-state council in New Delhi on Saturday, the Home Minister expressed satisfaction over the deliberations for arriving at consensus on some complex issues. He expressed satisfaction over the fact that the Inter State Council and the Standing Committee have been rejuvenated. <br/><br/>The issues discussed in meeting included, financial transfers from Centre to States, GST, devolution of functions to local bodies, district planning, special provisions for Fifth and Sixth scheduled areas, communal harmony, deployment of central forces, migration and criminal justice system. The committee also finalized 118 recommendations.<br/><br/>Union Ministers Arun Jaitley, Thaawar Chand Gehlot, Chief Ministers of Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Rajasthan and Tripura were present in the meeting. Minister of Law Ravi Shankar Prasad, Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri were present as special invitees. <br/><br/>Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Andhra Pradesh were represented by their ministers. Representatives of 30 central ministries and departments and 7 state governments were also present to assist the Committee in its deliberations.
