HM appeals media to help maintain communal harmony following threats by Pastor burning Holy Quran in US

India has strongly condemned the proposed threat by a pastor in US to burn the holy Quran. The Home Minister Mr. Chidambaram said that this is totally unbecoming of anyone who claims to be a man of religion. He said that the act is calculated to increase strife between different religious groups in a statement in New Delhi. Mr. Chidambaram also appealed to the media to help in the efforts in maintaining communal harmony in view of the reported threats by pastor. He also expressed the hope that the US authorities will take strong action to prevent such an outrage to be committed. Mr. Chidambaram said that no-one who is interested in maintaining harmony and peace among different sections of the people can condone such action. He said that the US authorities as well as religious leaders all over the world have condemned the proposed action of the Pastor.
