HM Amit Shah flags off battery operated electric buses in Ahmedabad

<span style="color: #222222;">Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that battery charging facilities for electric vehicles will come up in future like petrol pumps. <br />''</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">He said that it would be faster to swap batteries compared to petrol fueling for public transport vehicles. <br />''</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">He was speaking after flagging off battery operated 8 electric buses for Janmarg Bus Rapid Transit System -BRTS route in Ahmedabad this morning. <br />''</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">He said that electric buses have been introduced in some other cities also but in case of Ahmedabad, it is for the first time that completely India-made electric buses have been put on roads. <br />''</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">This would not just reduce pollution but also bring qualitative change in the life of people. Mr. Shah also inaugurated the battery swap facilities with robotic arm- this e-buses which can change fully charged battery with discharged battery in less than 2 minutes.<br />''</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Mr. Shah also participated in concluding ceremony of Mission Million Tree- campaign launched by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation by planting trees.<br />''</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Speaking on this occasion, he appealed the people, particularly women to use old-style textile bags instead of plastic to carry vegetables. He said that textile bags may look old fashion but it will be useful to protect the earth.</span><br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">AIR correspondent reports that Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation with the support of people had planted 10.87 lakh trees in the city area, while 13.70 lakh trees have been planted in district in last 3 months.</span><br />
