In Nepal, a meeting of the newly formed High Level Political Mechanism (HLPM) today set up a six-member taskforce to draft its terms of reference. The task force with two members from each of the three major political included Arjun Narsingh KC and Krishna Prasad Sitaula from the Nepali Congress, Bharat Mohan Adhikari and Yubaraj Gyawali from CPN-UML and Narayan Kaji Shrestha and Dev Gurung from the Unified CPN (Maoist). Talking to newsmen after the meeting, Nepali Congress spokesperson Arjun Narsingh K.C said the task force will table its report in the next meeting that will decide on inducting other party leaders in the new political mechanism. Today's meeting was attended by top leaders of the three major parties – Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala, Maoist Chairman Prachanda and CPN (UML) Chairman Jhalanath Khanal – among others. Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal also attended the meeting for a short while. The High level political Mechanism was formed on 8th of this month with the objective of taking the peace process to its logical end, timely drafting of the new constitution and find ways to end the current political deadlock. The HLPM formed with the Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala as its convener included Unified CPN (Maoist) Chairman Prachanda and CPN(UML) Chairman Jhalanath Khanal as its members.
