<br/>Police and Security forces on Thursday achieved a major success by eliminating one self styled Section Commander of Pro-Pak Militant outfit Hizbul- Mujahedeen in a fierce gun battle in the mountainous district of Doda in Jammu Division. <br/> <br/>According to official sources, Special Operation Group developed hard intelligence about the movement of terrorists in a hideout at Behota Forest in Marmat area of Doda district and immediately launched a search operation in the area in association with Security Forces and CRPF. <br/> <br/>The suspected area was cordoned off and during the search operation the contact was established with the hiding ultra who was asked to surrender. <br/> <br/>Instead of surrendering, he opened indiscriminate firing and lobbed a grenade towards the troops thereby trigging a fierce encounter. The gun battle continued for several hours resulting in the death of one dreaded terrorist. <br/> <br/>The slain dreaded terrorist has been identified as Abdul Qayoom Wani code Irfan Rashi s/o Alam Din Wani R/o Mangota . One AK 47 with 03 Magazines and one pouch were recovered from the possession of slain terrorist. <br/> <br/>He was a ‘A’ Category’ terrorist and had remained involved in many militancy related heinous crime, extortion and in the looting of the locals. He was operating since 1993 in the said area and had let loose a reign of terror. <br/> <br/>The killing of this ultra is a great success to the Police forces as it will give a severe blow to the outfit in the area. The local people have hailed the action of Police and Security Forces in eliminating this hardcore militant.<br/>
