In Jammu & Kashmir, a Hizbul Mujahideen militant was arrested in south Kashmir's Shopian district today. An Army spokesman in Srinagar told AIR that based on specific information a joint operation by Army and Special Operations Group of State Police was launched in Harman village of south Kashmir's Shopian district. In the operation a militant Nawaz Ahmad Najar owing allegiance to Hizbul Mujahideen, was apprehended from the village. <br/><br/>Two hand grenades, one Chinese grenade and some AK 47 rifle ammunition were recovered from the detained militant. Army spokesman said the militant was involved in militant activities since August this year in Shopian district. The FIR has been registered and the apprehended militant handed over to the State Police.
