Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister R Ashoka will meet Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today in Guwahati. Ashoka is undertaking Assam and Manipur visit on a Good will Mission to appeal the students and workers to return. The Deputy Chief Minister is also likely to meet the people and guardians of the students who left Bangalore in the wake of SMS and MMS threat.
The Karnataka Government already welcomed the people of the north-east to return to their workplaces without any fear. Karantaka also assured all to reinstate to their jobs. Ashoka’s visit will be a stepping stone towards solving the issue of departure of North-East people from southern states.
Meanwhile, the district administration has relaxed curfew in Kokrajhar district from 4 am to 9 pm today. People in good number came out from their houses to buy their essentials. A strict vigil is being maintained by the security forces.
State Home Secretary GD Tripathi said that instruction has been given to district administrations to set up temporary relief camps so that educational institutions can be reopened from September 1. The Assam Government will also talk to Railway Minister Mukul Roy to ensure security of passengers who are returning home from other states.
