Hindu houses attacked in Sunamganj in Bangladesh over Facebook post

A large mob, allegedly supporters of the hardline Islamist leader Junaid Babunagari, attacked a Hindu village in the Shalla upzila of Sunamganj on Wednesday. The crowd was enraged as a local Hindu man wrote a facebook post criticising a leader of the Islamist organisation Hefazat-e-Islam who had made a speech on Monday opposing the installation of the sculpture of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib.
''
'' The police had arrested the person on Tuesday who made the facebook post in order to bring the situation under control. However, the mob attacked the houses in the village in Sunamganj on the morning of Wednesday. The houses in the village were ransacked and looted, according to the police quoted by the local media.
''
'' Police and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) were deployed in the area.
