Hindi Day is being observed across the country today. Hindi was declared the official language unanimously by the constituent assembly on this day in 1949. To commemorate the historic occasion, Hindi Divas is observed every year of this day.

The President Mr. Pranab Mukherjee will confer awards in various categories for excellence in different fields pertaining to Hindi at a function in Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.

The Minister of Home Affairs Sushil Kumar Shinde will preside over the function and Minister for State for Home Affairs Jitendra Singh will also present in the occasion.
