Himachal to allow heli-taxi operators to Manimahesh

Himachal Pradesh has allowed private heli-taxi operators to ferry pilgrims during the on going pilgrimage Manimahesh in the remote areas of Chamba district. 'Two private companies have been allowed to operate heli-taxis this week. They will operate choppers till the end of the pilgrimage upto 20th of this month. The choppers will ferry devotees between Bharmour town and Gauri Kund. The to-and-fro fare per person is 7,500 rupees. Every year, more than 500,000 devotees undertake the pilgrimage to the oval-shaped, glacial-fed Manimahesh Lake from where they can see Mount Kailash and offer prayers.
