Widespread rain and snow swept Himachal Pradesh, affecting normal life in the state. The administration has closed all schools in Shimla and Keylong till February 16 due to the inclement weather.The key tourist resort of Manali received 45 cm snowfall on Sunday, while it was 35-40 cm in Keylong, Kalpa, Mari and Narkanda. The state capital Shimla, which was lashed by icy winds, recorded 5 cm snowfall.The Jammu Sringar National Highway has been closed due to fresh snowfall and slippery road conditions. AIR correspondent reports that the highway linking the Kashmir valley with the rest of the country was closed on the second day on Tuesday following fresh snowfall on both the sides of the Jawahar Tunnel and Patni Top.Meanwhile, the authorities issued an avalanche warning in Gulmarg, Chokibal, Tangdar, Gurez and Banihal town on Sringar Jammmu nartional highway in South of Peer Panchal range.
