In Himachal Pradesh, the State-level Independence Day function was held at Barsar of Hamirpur district where the State Chief Miniter Prem Kumar Dhumal unfurled the National Flag and took the salute. After paying tributes to the freedom fighters, Mr. Dhumal announced enhancement of 'Samman Rashi of freedom fighters from four thousand rupees to five thousand rupees per month. Chief Minister also announced setting up of two new separate departments – one for women and child development and another for scheduled castes.
