This led to strong criticism in the media even the family of Aman Kachroo had raised fingers over the decision and termed it as a big blow to the anti-ragging campaign in the country.Aman Kachroo died after being ragged by seniors at his college in 2009. Four of them were accused of culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Kachroo had joined a medical college in Kangra when he was physically assaulted by seniors for several hours.
