Vice-President Mohammed Hamid Ansari today presented the Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister P K Dhumal the Best State award at a function in New Delhi.This is for the first time that Himachal Pradesh has been adjudged the Best State in Overall Performance. The State has also been adjudged best in Education, Investment and Macro Economy.It is also among the top states in the country in agriculture, governance, infrastructural development and consumer markets and registered annual growth of 8.1%, which is equal to the industrialised state like Maharashtra.The state has also topped in housing development programmes.Accepting the Award Dhumal said that his government focused its development approach towards rural areas and was ensuring that common man got the first benefit of the Government programmes.
